Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk is Iron Man, Tony Stark

Paul Shea

Tesla Motors Inc has gotten to where it is today through the expert work of its CEO Elon Musk. Mr. Musk is great at his job, those who bought the Model S tend to love him, and those that put money behind his company are almost obsessed with his plan for growth.

Elon Musk is so good at his job, that many have compared him to Tony Stark, the figure behind Marvel’s Iron Man. Here’s a look at the similarities between the two characters in infographic form. It comes from vcars.co.uk.

Tesla Motors might be ran by Iron Man

Tesla Motors is one of the most innovative an important firms out there right now, and, as you can see from the infographic above, the firm’s CEO might even be more than human. Elon Musk has put his heart and soul into Tesla Motors because he wants to see the world escape its fossil fuel hell.

He has similar height, hair color and other physical characteristics, his degrees reflect those gotten by Tony Stark, and he, like Stark, followed in his father’s footsteps.

There sure is a lot to link between the two engineers, but that doesn’t mean they’re the same all over. There are key differences between the men that the above piece seems to overlook. Tony Stark would be a very very bad CEO, while Elon Musk seems to be a great one.

Elon Musk isn’t Iron Man all over

Of course there are differences between Elon Musk and Tony Stark. For one, Elon Musk is a self made man. He got to where he is today by seeing opportunities to make money and grabbing hold of them. Tony Stark simply inherited a massive weapons firm from his father.

Second, Elon Musk has, so far at least, managed to drive up the value of shares in his firms. The same can not be said for Tony Stark in all likelihood.

The Marvel movies don’t really delve into the stock market chaos that Stark likely causes. It’s clear that his announcement that Stark Industries is moving away from weapons, its main business, wouldn’t be a hit with those holding shares.

At the same time Mr. Stark’s Iron Man sideline is a huge liability for the firm, but doesn’t really bring in that much cash. That point may be reflected by Elon Musk’s Space X exploration business.

The firm doesn’t make any money, and it’s not likely to start any time soon, but when things go wrong it can hurt shares in Tesla Motors , and make life very difficult for Mr. Musk.

For the time being, despite the surprise explosions from time to time, Space X isn’t quite as hurtful as Iron Man, and Elon Musk and his team at Tesla Motors spend most of their time trying to save the world, rather than doing cool stunts. They throw in a few of those from time to time too, of course.
