Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (WMT) Thanksgiving Hours 2016

Hiren Mehta

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is preparing for the coming shopping season. Here is when some of the best deals will begin. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.  has announced its Thanksgiving hours for 2016. The retail giant announced a slate of deals on this year’s upcoming Black Friday sale, along with the hours in which it will be open this Thanksgiving. Turkey Day seems to be pushed more and more into the background as a larger number of stores deem it OK to open up the doors on the most important holiday in the U.S.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is Sure of Winning the Entire Season

Starting early in the day — at 12:01 a.m. — on Thanksgiving morning, Black Friday deals will be available on Walmart.com. Stores will be available throughout the day, but the deals won’t be in effect until 6:00 p.m. local time on Thanksgiving Day. “I said it before and I will say it again, we will win the season on price – on Black Friday, on Cyber Monday and every day before and after,” said Steve Bratspies, chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S.

Specifying what he meant by that, Bratspies said that the firm is known for its deals in stores, online and on its app. The availability of more items and the low prices that come along with them are two of the moves that will ensure the firm performs well this year. Check out some Black Friday deals offered by Walmart, including a very affordable 4K TV. Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away now.

One of the cheapest deals on offer is meant for kids. You can get a trampoline for as low as $79. Moving upwards from there, the new Apple TV (4th generation) equipped with 32GB can be had for $112.49. Spend a little extra and you can get the Samsung Chromebook 3. That is another worthwhile deal as it will only be $119. It is interesting to note here that the Apple TV mentioned earlier also has a 64GB version. That one usually sells for $199.99. But now, you can buy the 64GB version for $149.99, which is $50 cheaper than its original Walmart price.

How Much is Wal-Mart Affected by Seasonal Patterns?

During the Q2 2017 earnings release, the firm had put up certain figures about the business. Being in the retail business, the firm is obviously at risk to supply chain disruptions and disruptions in seasonal buying patterns. Based on these figures, the firm had given guidance for the next quarter during the earnings call. In that quarter, the firm saw apparel sales growth due to a focus on basics across both seasonal and the base apparel business while the home and toys categories benefited from licensed brands and improved in-stock.

Overall, the firm’s continued focus on inventory management is improving in-stock levels and allowing more space for seasonally-relevant items. So the firm will naturally want to make the best of the upcoming shopping season. In order to align with how the firm manages the business, the category of ‘general merchandise’ now includes entertainment, toys, hardlines, apparel and home/seasonal. This category saw low single-digit growth. This is for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.  U.S.

With Sam’s Club, it’s a slightly different story. Toys & recreation, homelines and seasonal hardware delivered positive results on strong item merchandising. So its not difficult to figure out why the shopping season really matters to WalMart.
