Polish Designer Shares Microsoft Surface Phone Concept (MSFT)

Rumors continue to suggest that Microsoft Corporation is building an entirely new smartphone model, dubbed the Surface Phone. The Windows 10 Mobile-powered smartphone is expected to replace the company’s Lumia smartphone lineup. Reports suggest that the Surface Phone will make a debut in March 2017. Recently, a user posted a photo on Chinese website Baidu to offer the first glimpse at the Surface Phone. Now, a Polish designer named Bartłomiej Tarnowski shared some concept images for the purported Microsoft Surface Phone, Tech Times reported. The images clearly show “what we can expect from the real deal,” the publication said.

Surface Phone Concept Design

Tarnowski created a concept design of the smartphone from Microsoft. His design is based on rumored specs and features. He also added some of his own ingenuity and creativity to the design.

“The concept design basically reimagines a productive Windows 10 Mobile-powered device that is essentially sans any bezels. The designer has taken a cue from rumors hinting that Microsoft wants the handset to be quite utilitarian and business-oriented,” the Tech Times article reads.

Looking at the smartphone concept design, the phone has a metal casing with a support for Type Cover to make the phone adaptive, converting it to a mini laptop. We also see a stylish Surface Pen as well as a sleek and flat keyboard.

Moreover, the concept shows the Surface Phone’s primary camera sporting three LED flashes like the Lumia 950 XL. The speaker grills does not look very good and they are one too many. Anu Passary writes that these many holes for the speaker “tend to make the handset look a little strange.” There can be two on the front of the handset and two more on its rear.

The Surface Phone concept shows a massive device with an estimated screen size of 6-inch. The designer did not share the screen size of his concept. The edge-to-edge screen looks pretty cool and attractive and it looks like sensor-based areas are replacing physical buttons on the side of the handset.

Rumors suggest that the Surface Phone will come with a unique fingerprint sensor. The concept did not show any dedicated area for the fingerprint scanner. According to rumors, the scanner would be integrated on the smartphone’s display, contrary to fingerprint sensors on the home button or the rear of the handset in most smartphones.

Reports claim that the company is planning to release three different versions of the Surface Phone. The base model of the Surface Phone will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, with a mid-range offering coming with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

Here you can check what the rumor mill has been saying about Microsoft’s much talked about smartphone.
