Voice, a social media platform for the EOS platform, is finally launching soon in a beta format. The launch is set for Valentine’s Day 2020, or February 14th, according to a blog post from the company.
The project was proclaimed by Brendan Blumer, CEO of EOS and the CTO, Dan Larimer. The two talked about how the state of social media isn’t great, and that they wanted to innovate on it.
“Social media is broken. Designed to use us, our data and attention is harvested into trillion dollar profits for large corps, big tech, banks, and Wall Street interests, while we struggle to protect ourselves against the consequences of having our attention auctioned to anonymous parties, and our personal information traded on the open market.”
This is why they’re focused on Voice – a platform that should save social media in their eyes, as it gets rid of “one-sided data auctioneering, eliminating the hidden algorithms, and cycling value back into users’ hands in the form of the Voice Token.”
Since this announcement, many have signed up for the platform’s beta. These tokens are earned by participants on the network by sharing their thoughts and otherwise contributing to the conversation.
We’ll have to see how the beta plays out.
