Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE: BABA), Toyota Motor Corp (ADR) (NYSE: TM), NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA), Priceline Group Inc (NASDAQ: PCLN) and Molson Coors Brewing Company (NYSE: TAP) will announce quarterly results on Thursday. Here’s what investors can expect:
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA)
Alibaba will report its fourth-quarter earnings before the start of U.S. trading on Thursday. Wall Street expects the Chinese company to record earnings of 20 cents per share, down from 30 cents per share in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, Alibaba should post non-GAAP earnings of 43 cents a share, compared to 46 cents a share a year ago. Revenue for the quarter should come in around $2.7 billion, up from $2 billion in the same quarter last year.
This will be Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA)’s third quarterly results since the company’s $25 billion initial public offering in September last year. The world’s biggest e-commerce company had a rough third quarter, when revenue fell short of Street expectations. Since then, the stock has been in a downward spiral.
Investors will focus on Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA)’s gross merchandise volume, which is projected to decelerate this quarter. Earlier this week, MKM Partners lowered its forecast for the company’s GMV growth to 40 percent from 45 percent.
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA)’s stock is currently trading at $80.00. Analysts following the stock have a 12-month target price of $106.91.
Toyota Motor Corp (ADR) (NYSE:TM)
The average analysts estimate is for Toyota to report earnings of $2.59 per share for the current quarter. For its most recent quarter, the company recorded earnings of $3.15 per share.
Investors expect Toyota Motor Corp (ADR) (NYSE:TM) to report strong quarterly numbers, largely on the back of its strong performance in North America and China. The Japanese car maker has reported a 10.2 percent increase in year-to-date sales. However, weakness in emerging markets may take some sheen away. The gradual withdrawal of the U.S. Fed’s quantitative easing has led to currency fluctuations in those economies, which in turn has hurt Toyota’s sales.
Shares of Toyota Motor Corp (ADR) (NYSE:TM) closed Wednesday at $137.16 in New York trading. Analysts covering the stock have a consensus price target of $152.39.
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)
The company will announce its first-quarter results on Thursday. The Street estimate is for earnings of 26 cents per share. Over the past month, the consensus estimate has remained unchanged, but has increased from three months ago when it stood at 24 cents per share. For the full year, analysts are predicting earnings of $1.20 per share.
NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)’s quarterly revenue is forecast to increase 6 percent to $1.17 billion from $1.10 billion a year ago. For the fiscal year, revenue will likely be around $4.91 billion.
For three quarters in a row, the company’s net income and revenue have been on the rise. In the most recent quarter, NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA)’s net income jumped 41 percent, while revenue edged 13 percent higher to $1.25 billion.
Priceline Group Inc (NASDAQ:PCLN)
Priceline is gearing to announce first-quarter results before the start of trade on Thursday. The average analysts’ estimate is for EPS of $7.72, versus $7.81 a year ago. Revenue is projected to rise 10 percent to $1.8 billion from the $1.64 billion it reported a year ago.
The online travel booking company had said in February that it expects first-quarter adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to be between $475 million and $510 million.
Investors will also focus on Priceline Group Inc (NASDAQ:PCLN)’s year-over-year bookings growth and search interest in its Booking.com segment. However, most analysts expect the strong dollar to continue to be an overhang on the company’s outlook.
Priceline Group Inc (NASDAQ:PCLN)’s stock ended yesterday at $1264.15.The average target price of analysts covering the stock is $1377.28; 9 percent above current levels.
Molson Coors Brewing Company (NYSE:TAP)
Molson is projected to record 45 cents per share in adjusted earnings. That’s 10 cents shy of what the company earned in the same period last year. Sales should come in at $718.2 million, during a quarter that has traditionally been weak for the company.
After two consecutive quarters of earnings miss, Molson Coors Brewing Company (NYSE:TAP) will be under the microscope. Performance during the first three months of the year will depend to a large extent on how the company managed to cut into the sales of crafted beer, and coped with the drop in prices during the period.
Molson Coors Brewing Company (NYSE:TAP) shares are down 2 percent year-to-date, compared to a 1.5 percent gain in the S&P 500. If the quarterly numbers disappoint, expect shares to tumble. A positive surprise could kick-start a fresh rally in the stock.
