Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Fixes Windows 10 Bug Ahead of Christmas

Andrew Moran

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has finally fixed a Windows 10 bug just in time for Christmas. The bug had reportedly knocked users off of the Internet. With the holiday break around the corner, you know what that means? You can spend hours playing a game of backgammon with someone from London or you can binge watch episodes of The Angry Grandpa Show on YouTube.

Microsoft Corporation Issues Patch for Windows 10 Bug

For about a week now, Windows 10 users had reported that they were prevented from connecting to the Internet or they were kicked off of the Internet. The reason for this is because they were unable to request a local IP address from routers.

With the latest patch, you don’t have to worry about this anymore.

The tech titan has fixed the problem by issuing a new Windows 10 update. Microsoft announced on Tuesday that it released a security update that resolves the matter. The tech firm said that the bug was caused by the Connected Devices Platform Service, or CDPSvc, crashing. This stopped PCs from receiving Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) information from routers.

It remains unclear as to what Windows update caused the problems in the first place. ZDNet reports that it may have been KB3201845 or perhaps KB3201845 that produced the issues.

“We released an update on December 13 that will automatically install and resolve connectivity difficulties reported by some customers,” Microsoft said in a statement. “To receive the update, customers may need to first restart their PCs by selecting Start on the taskbar, clicking the Power button, and choosing Restart, not Shut down. Additional guidance can be found on our support forum here.”

Rather than spending time with your family or friends on Christmas, you can now celebrate the holidays by checking out your ex’s social media, playing a game of chess or working on your taxes for next year.

Microsoft Corporation’s Past Windows 10 Bugs

This isn’t the first time that Microsoft has had issues with its operating systems. We all know about the tech giant’s history with every incarnation of its OS. Although Windows 10 has been great, it has suffered from a number of bugs that have required security patches.

Microsoft-Windows-10

Earlier this year, for instance, the Windows 10 Anniversary Update created many problems. Users had complained about an array of issues, such as frozen systems and broken webcams. Microsoft identified the setbacks right away and sent out patches.

And that isn’t the only problem.

For the past years, there have been numerous reports about printers unable to function correctly on Windows 10, limited virtual memory and Microsoft Edge erasing your Internet Explorer favorites.

One specific feature is annoying a lot of users. The Home edition of Windows 10 does not permit you to delay receiving updates for several months so you can bide your time to allow Microsoft to remedy the issues. Some users have urged Microsoft to permit them to delay these updates.

Who knows if the software giant will solve these complaints in the coming Windows 10 update.
