Tesla’s Shanghai based Gigafactory 3 Reportedly Ahead of Schedule

Viraj Shah

EV manufacturing company Tesla’s Gigafactory 3, based in Shanghai, China, is reportedly ahead of schedule in construction. The news was recently broken by a well-known Chinese Twitter user.

Vincent tells the world about Tesla

It is not easy for information from China to make it to the rest of the world. However, Twitter user Vincent is determined to bring information about the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory on Twitter. He collects information from Chinese media and social media and spreads it to users across the globe. Vincent recently posted a series of tweets and talked about a meeting between Tao Lin (Grace Tao) the Global Vice President with the Chinese media.

Tesla’s Shanghai based Gigafactory 3 Reportedly Ahead of Schedule

Lin discussed operations and development at the Shanghai factory and noted that the construction is going on ahead of schedule. In fact, the pace of construction suggests that China-made Model 3s will be rolling off the assembly lines by the end of 2019. Some images of the GF3 are also available on Twitter. Lin also noted that the company had completed three to four rounds of recruitment, which has helped form the factory’s team. However, their workforce is still expanding.

Incredible news for the company

Tesla is well-known for making ambitious promises and then skipping deadlines, thanks to its CEO, Elon Musk. However, this time, things look great for the company. It also shows a good relationship between the company and the Chinese government and media. The first phase of the Shanghai GF3 will produce Model 3s using a global supply chain. However, in later phases, the production process will be continuously optimized to improve their efficiency and help bring down the cost of production. The company is still looking for partners who could help it achieve its goals.

It is also important to note that a quick turnaround of the GF3 makes Tesla produce more Model 3s and sell more to its Chinese consumers. The price of these vehicles will also be lower, which could be helpful in bringing more word-of-mouth publicity and increased sales for the company.

Model 3 is one of the best-selling Tesla cars because it provides a cheaper and more affordable way of shifting to zero-emission vehicles. Recently, it became the top-selling car in the Netherlands. Having a firm grip on the massive Chinese market could help the company expand its reach further and increase profits more rapidly. Note that the prices of their cars have increased this month and another increase is expected in some variants next month.
