Tesla Motors Inc has sent twelve “Golden Tickets” to random Model 3 buyers to attend the grand opening of the Gigafactory in Reno, Nevada on July 29th. The tickets include a round-trip economy class airfare, transportation, and accommodation in Reno.
All-expenses paid trip from Tesla
Tesla created a “Golden Ticket” for all the people who placed a preorder for the Model 3 during the first day, and selected 12 random winners to receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Gigafactory Grand Opening. A lucky Model 3 reservation holder received an email from [email protected] that congratulates the holder, and inform them of the Golden Ticket. The email informs the tickets are non-transferrable, says a report from Electrek.
“We look forward to seeing you and your guest at the event!” concludes the email.
Several Tesla Motors Inc VIPs have been invited to the opening party already, including the Model S owners who referred five buyers to the company. However, everyone else will need to pay of their own to be a part of the grand opening of the Gigafactory. The contest, which was first reported by Electrek, was open to the around 150,000 people, who placed a Model 3 reservation on the first day it was available.
Gigafactory – very important for Tesla’s plan
Earlier this year, Musk said the Reno facility will have the largest footprint of any building in the world. Tesla’s Gigafactory will produce lithium-ion battery packs for Tesla’s cars and other products. The factory will produce 35GW hours of battery capacity each year by 2020 if all goes smoothly. This will be more than the entire world’s lithium-ion battery production in 2013.
Tesla Motors Inc recently announced of holding a ‘Grand Opening’ event for the first phase of the Gigafactory. And, Musk has been building up expectations for the long-awaited event to make it special. Electrek, citing building permits, recently reported that the battery cell manufacturing equipment will be ready at the plant just in time for the opening.
As 150,000 people reserved the Model 3 on the opening day, so only 1 person in 12,000 people has a chance of winning this extraordinary trip to the Reno Gigafactory. So, if you did preorder the Model 3 on the very first day, check your emails. Maybe you are among the twelve lucky golden ticket holders as well.
