Tesla Motors Inc Model 3, the most-awaited electric car by Tesla, is in talks these days. Already about 400,000 pre-release orders of this less expensive car have been made by the customers all around the world. The electric car will be available at the base price of $36,000, and will be delivered in batches.
Tesla is anticipated to begin its initial deliveries by the end of next year in North America. The electric car is expected to release in Asia on a later date. There is, however, a possibility, that release date of the Model 3 in Asia will be earlier than North American. It would completely rely on the realization of a plausibility of contracting a production partner outside the US, says a report from AutoWorldNews.
Initial production date confirmed
Nothing is yet certain about the exact release date of the Model 3, but the good news is that the automaker just confirmed the production date of initial batch of the Model 3. The initial production of the car will begin from July 1, 2017, which according to AutoWorldNews, means that the customers will be able to receive the first Model 3 by the end of year 2017.
There were several who were dubious about this date. Most people agreed in a recent poll that it appears like the first batch of the Model 3 will be launched somewhere in the beginning of year 2018, notes i4u News.
Regardless, when the deliveries start, it is anticipated that the Model 3 will first be delivered in North America. However, there are also talks that Asia might get to see the first of the Model 3, if production is completed in the Asian region first, says AutoWorldNews.
Tesla taking production locally?
Tesla Motors Inc is planning to take production to China. Probably, the automaker could contract the production locally, particularly in China, to continue with the orders as clued by Jon McNeill, Tesla President when he was in China in May. Tesla’s Chief Executive and product architect Elon Musk has also talked about targeting partner locally for the production facility in the country. Hence, it will be easier to deliver the first Model 3’s to the Asian region if production starts over there.
In terms of pre-orders made for the Model 3, Ren Yuxiang – Tesla’s Vice President for Asia-Pacific -revealed that China is on the number second, whereas North America is on the top. Ren said, “The potential is huge, and Tesla is fully committed to developing the Chinese market.”
Mashable reported that Tesla Motors Inc CEO projected a production of 100,000 – 200,000 units of Model 3 by next year. Also, he urged the eager purchasers to place an order as fast as possible if they want the electric car by 2018.
