Tesla Motors Inc. just released a software update for the Model S and the Model X and it’s packed with Goodies for the holidays.
Here’s what Musk and company have packed into the most recent update:
Tesla Supercharger Amenities
Superchargers are strategically placed along highways allowing for long distance travel without “Range Anxiety” (the fear of running out of “gas”). Tesla’s navigation system makes sure that when drivers hit the road they are routed on a path that will make draining their battery less likely. The system keeps the driver informed of the location and distance to the next Supercharger as well as the suggested charge time required to make it to the next charging point or final location.
Tesla Motors normally places Superchargers close to amenities like food and shopping allowing drivers to do “something” while they wait for their car to finish charging. However, unless you’ve stopped there before you won’t know what kind of amenities you can expect to find next to the Supercharger.
Starting with this software update, Supercharger locations list all available amenities. Restrooms, food, coffee, hotels, shopping and most importantly WiFi are all shown on the Navigation display.
Automatic Driver Profiles
Those cute little key fobs that Tesla drivers carry around just got a new purpose. Driver profiles can now be connected to the car via the fob. Starting with this update, steering wheel, seat position and other settings when you open the car door.
Your Tesla even sounds better now
Two additional equalizer settings have been added so audiophile techies can further tune their cabin for more delicious ear candy.
Elon Musk has a reputation for being playful with his software updates and this update is no exception. Hold down the “T” and enter code “Mars” and the navigation display switches to a martian landscape complete with a small roving vehicle – we assume it’s a Tesla Mars Rover.
Let Your Model X Shine for the Holidays
And finally, if you own a Model X, you can impress the neighbors with a holiday light show. Tesla did something similar last holiday season as well. The holiday light display makes use of the famous Model X folding Falcon Wing doors, along with its turn indicators, fog lights, headlights and more. There’s even a holiday soundtrack to help get you and your neighbors in a holiday mood courtesy of Tesla Motors Inc. .
