Microsoft Corporation appears to be working on the Surface Pro 5 featuring a 4K display and Intel’s new Kaby Lake processors. Earlier, reports suggested that the tech titan will launch the 2-in-1 device before the end of 2016. But latest rumors claim that the company is planning to announce the Surface Pro 5 during the Windows 10 Devices event in October. Microsoft remains silent about the super laptop and has not made any official statement yet.
Microsoft Surface Pro 5 Specs
The Surface Pro 5 is reported to come with Intel’s Kaby Lake processor and Windows 10 Professional Redstone 2 operating system. The computer with a Touch-screen display will be available in three sizes: 21-inch, 24-inch and 27-inch.
The Surface Pro 5 is expected to be a little expensive than Surface Pro 4 because of the Kaby Lake processors and an upgraded Windows 10 OSm. The cost different may be $100.
The Surface Pro 5 will have Intel’s new Kaby Lake processors, which are expected to improve the device’s battery life. According to reports, the Kaby Lake processors with a 14-nm manufacturing process could provide enhanced cooling technology and 40% improved performance.
Rumors also suggest that the Surface Pen, which comes with Surface Pro tablets, will feature a rechargeable battery that charges wirelessly when magnetically attached to the tablet.
Additionally, the Surface Pro 5 is expected to feature 4K resolution, PixelSense display panel, and sport a 16GB RAM with Surface AIO graphics unit. Rumors claim that the device will feature a 16MP rear and 8MP front camera. In addition to a 4K model, the Surface Pro 5 is rumored to come with a 2K screen.
Moreover, the company is expected to upgrade is the USB port. Reports suggest that the company could replace a USB 3.0 port with a USB-C port in the Surface Pro 5.
Microsoft Corporation has yet to officially release details – specs, price and release date – about the highly anticipated Surface Pro 5.
Microsoft launched the Surface Pro 4 device in October 2015. According to the rumor mill, the company is expected to launch the device in the fourth quarter, before the end of 2016.
Some reports suggest that the Surface Pro 5 may not arrive until March 2017. One reason is that Intel is going to release Kaby Lake processors by the end of this year. Second one is Windows 10 Redstone 2 update, which expected to be released by spring of 2017.
