Facebook Inc is adding to the endless joy of stumbling onto ads while you flick through updates from old friends with better lives than yours. The globe’s largest social network wants to offer archives upon archives of entertaining video content. It certainly has no shortage of active consumers and holds the largest user count of all its online rivals. However, Mark Zuckerberg and his team are working on a quality video platform to send Facebook’s reach to new frontiers.
Think of video content which is highly original, similar to what you see on your TV or favorite YouTube channel. FB has been craving something like that for a while now. As per Zuckerberg himself, you can bet your bottom dollar the company won’t rest until it has its own thriving platform of original, video content. A cross between Facebook and YouTube, perhaps. FaceTube, anyone?
We’ll leave the naming up to them, but rest assured, in a world littered with bright screens and flashing images, original and engaging content has become everything. Just ask Netflix, Amazon, Apple or Google. Now you can ask Facebook as well, which has plans to expand its video endeavors with TV-like shows.
Word on the Street is that Facebook is working tirelessly to bring its users quality video content. Expect a new video platform to show up later this year. There are some delays in getting the venture up to standard, but things should be done around August, reports say. The online giant will likely roll out its new shows around the same time it introduces its video tab.
Said to be a few months away, the video tab has long been reported to be coming to the Facebook website and app. The tab is the very thing holding up the arrival of our Facebook shows, says William White of Investor Place. “Facebook Inc does not have it ready yet and this is causing the delay in original content,” he wrote.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO at Facebook Inc, said it himself that original video shows are in the works. He mentioned this back in February 2017 and analysts were quick to set the platform’s arrival for April. That guess proved to be wrong as the month came and went without our widely anticipated FB shows. Depending on what you read, you can now find predictions set between June and August.
Facebook Inc is yet to share the progress made on its videos tab and original shows. We know from Zuckerberg’s comments that the ideal Facebook show will air weekly with users tuning in to keep themselves updated. According to sources, fans can expect shows to span anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes to begin with. We look forward to the coming months to see what the company has in store.
Market-wise, Facebook Inc is moving nicely into the week, safely in the green. The stock had an intraday low of $147.74 on Monday before moving up to close at $148.24. Facebook is an online giant focused on getting people interacting through engaging, internet platforms. The company is also the parent entity of Instragram, WhatApp, Messenger and Oculus.
