Apple To Offer ‘Special iPhone 8 Model’ On 10th Anniversary

The highly-anticipated iPhone 8 is expected to arrive in September 2017 to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. Apple Inc. is said to offer the iPhone 8 in three variants. There will be two standard models and a special phone with some premium features.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects that Apple will introduce two 5.5-inch models and a 4.7-inch model. The analyst believes that the tech giant will sell a record number of iPhones next year. He expects the company to sell between 120-150 million units in the second half of next year, breaking its previous sales records.

Apple iPhone 8 Rumors

The iPhone 8 is said to feature an all-glass body, edge-to-edge OLED display, long-range wireless changing ability, and a 3D camera. The smartphone will have a glass cover, which is expected to make wireless charging smoother.

According to the rumors mill, a curved OLED screen will encourage high-end customers to upgrade their device, while the low-end 4.7-inch version with wireless charging will become very attractive to the lower-end of the smartphone market, according to Kuo.

A report published in Nikkei Asian Review suggested that certain iPhone models will have curved screen on both sides. The rounded model, similar to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, is expected to be a 5.5-inche device and is likely to be more expensive than the standard edition.

Apple is reportedly building a wireless technology to charge the iPhone from a long distance. The tech giant hired engineers to work on the wireless charging technology and held discussions with suppliers for wireless charging chips, according to recent reports.

In one of his recent reports about iPhone 8, Kuo predicted that the next year’s handset would feature glass front and back design like the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. The analyst believes that the Phone will use either a stainless steel or aluminum metal casing.

Kuo also expects the iPhone 8 to feature an improved camera technology. He wrote in a note to clients that the Apple may add the dual optical image stabilization to the iPhone 8 to enhance the selling points. The optical image stabilization function will improve photo quality and optical zoom range in the smartphones.

A report from The Korea Economic Daily suggested that the iPhone 8 will come with a 3D camera. The company will partner with LG to fit the next year’s handset with a 3D camera, according to the report.

Apple Inc. is rumored to kill the iPhone’s iconic Home Button. Bloomberg reported that the company will ditch the Button in favor of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor that would be built into the screen.

iPhone 8 Release Date

Apple Inc. is expected to release the iPhone 8 in September. But few reports suggest that the company might announce a special date to unveil the special phone.

The tech giant is expected to announce a special release day for the new iPhone in the first half of 2017. Some reports suggested that the company could release the smartphone earlier in the year.
