Apple Inc.’s latest addition to the iPad family is not only bigger, it’s faster and it’s louder. With features that could render most laptops useless, the upcoming iPad Pro will be all about fun, efficiency and productivity. Though the Pro is a little over a month away from its release, Apple has handed out enough specs to assure us that the device is one we want to get our hands on.
The iPad Pro is Bigger
Compared to a normal iPad, the Pro will have a very noticeable size difference. The iPad Air holds 9.7 diagonal inches whereas the Pro beats it by just over 3 inches at an almost intimidating 12.9 diagonal inches. Its brilliant size is matched by an equally brilliant display. The iPad Pro will feature a 2732×2048 resolution filled with 5.6 million pixels. The display is greater than Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pro, making it the highest resolution Retina display that Apple has ever made. With so much placed on graphics, the new Pro is sure to be the ideal movie watching and video gaming companion.
iPad Pro comes with Pro Sound
In terms of sound quality, well, only a physical ears-on test will allow us to give a definitive verdict. However, the given speakers specs are very assuring. The design of the Pro’s casing will give the device over 60 percent more back volume. Its casing will also allow around 3 times more acoustic output than other iPads. There will be a speaker on each corner of the device, allowing you a full-on sound experience. The speakers have been tweaked to produce the most balanced sound, too, regardless of how the device is held.
For Apple Inc., Bigger Doesn’t Mean Slower
The iPad Pro will be a bit bulkier that the Air 2. This you might have expected. However, considering it’s features, you probably won’t mind much. It is 6.9 mm thick and weighs 1.57 pounds. But for Apple , bigger does not mean slower. It will make great use of the iPhone maker’s new A9X chip, which is not only faster than the A8X but holds twice as much memory too. Apple considers this “desktop-class performance”, we’ll have to wait and see how true this comparison really is. The device has great new storage controls that will let you quickly open large files. Apple is yet to make an immortal battery though. The Pro will sport 10 hours of battery life.
Run Two Apps at the Same Time
You’ll be able two run two apps simultaneously on the iPad Pro. With iOS 9, running two app can be done in one of three ways. There’s the split screen method where the apps share equal halves of the screen. The Slide Over feature lets you pin the second app in sidebar format. Or you can use Picture-Picture to use one app while running another in the background.
iPad Pro Accessories
The iPad Pro will come with a few accessories of its own. There’s the new Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard and a few other covers and casings. The Pencil is much like any other stylus really, allowing you to write by hand, select and highlight items. It also comes with a few other features though. It has multiple sensors that can sense the position, angle, pressure and orientation of your pencil strokes. Press down hard for darker strokes or hold the Pencil down gently for light markings. You can find out more about the Apple Pencil here.
There is also the slim and foldable 4mm Smart Keyboard. It is actually just a Smart Cover that you can can type on. The keyboard is lightweight and water-resistant. It will set you back $169.

The iPad Pro will come in Silver, Gold and Space Grey. The device will be released in three variants. There will be the 32GB with Wi-Fi, the 128GB with Wi-Fi, and another 128GB with both Wi-Fi and cellular functions.
The latest version of the iPad will pack a lot of power. Bearing that, it will have a price to suit. $799 will get you the 32GB. For $949 you can buy the 128GB. And if you want cellular capabilities with your 128GB device, that will set you back $1079.
