Apple Inc. is on the cusp of showing off the iPhone 7 for the first time. We’re less than a week away from the September 9 event at which Tim Cook and his team will show off the iPhone 7 specs and let us know when the release date of the next great smart phone will be.
In order to help you approach the iPhone 7 release date in greater confidence and decide whether now is the time to get rid of that slow bloated smart phone in your pocket right now, here’s a look at all of the most credible rumors about the iPhone 7, and what they might do to improve your smart phone world.
iPhone 7 specs
The iPhone 7, or iPhone 6S whichever Tim Cook shows off on Wednesday, will be very like the iPhone 6. We’ve seen the case of the iPhone 7, and we’ve seen a lot of the internals, in leaked pics, so we know that on the outside, and on the inside, it’s going to reflect the last big release from Apple.
There will be some changes. The shell of the iPhone 7, judged from a blueprint leaked by Engadget Japan, will be thicker than that of the last release. It will come in at 7.1 mm, bigger than the 6.9mm of the smart phone Apple released last year.
The color choice is also likely to change. We’ll see a new gold color this time around, and changes in the darker option, from Space Gray to Space Black. The biggest change on the outside will come in the new Rose gold color that will mimic the $10,000 Apple Watch. Apart from that we’re expecting the iPhone 7 to look much like the units on the market right now.
The thickness of the device will be boosted for a reason. Force Touch, first seen in the Apple Watch and the 12 inch MacBook, will make its way onto the iPhone 7. Huawei has already launched a smart phone with a tech that mimics Force Touch, but it’s not likely to live up to the appeal of the feature on the iPhone 7.
Wamsi Mohan of Bank of America said in a report published on September 3 that Force Touch will “unlock another way to speed up accessing various device functions.” It will be the “main feature enhancement” according to the investment bank.
There will be other things to look for in the iPhone 7 specs sheet. The device will get a boost to 2GB of RAM according to Raymond James analyst Travis McCourt. He says that means a “significantly better use experience.”
The processor will also get a bump. The A9 chip should be faster than the A8X used in the iPad Air 2, and Summit Research analyst Srini Sundarajan reckons it will will bring “killer performance” to the next great smart phone from Apple.
Ming Chu Kuo of KGI securities says that the iPhone 7 will bring a focus on camera tech. The macros stats will be boosted according to the analyst, bringing a 12MP camera in the back of the device as well as a much better front-facing camera. That’s going to help those that love selfies take clearer pictures of themselves than ever before.
Battery life is something that those who love the iPhone crave. The device can do so much, but it doesn’t leave users a lot of time to do it in. The release of iOS9, which should be unveiled beside the iPhone 7 next Wednesday, will bring power saving straight to those users.
Low Power Mode will let the iPhone save its charge even as it loses it. Once a phone reaches a warning level on iOS9 their phone will turn off some background features in order to allow a longer life. That will likely extend the life of the iPhone 7 by three or four hours, at least according to tests that used the iPhone 6, and will make sure
Most of the rest of the iPhone 7 specs are going to mirror those of the most recent iPhone release from Apple. That means that despite rumors that we would see Tim Cook and his team transition to OLED tech this time around, the screen in the device will remain the same.
iPhone 7 release date is creeping closer
Tim Cook will show us the iPhone 7 on September 9. For all of the rumors above, that’s when we’ll know the true iPhone 7 specs. It’ll take a little while after that before people are actually able to get their hands on the device and figure out whether the features are worth using on a daily basis.
Given the previous record of Apple Inc. , the iPhone 7 release date will come on September 18. Apple usually puts the device out there on a Friday and those lucky few million who get to stores on time will be the first to see how the phone works and what it can do for them.
Sales of the device are going to be a major focus for those with shares in Apple. The firm has grown and grown since the relase of the first iPhone back in 2007. The iPhone 7 may, at least according to Deutsche Bank’s Sherri Scribner, be the first phone from Apple that fails to bring growth to the firm.
That’s a major story around the release of the device, and Apple is such a large part of the US stock market that the success of the iPhone 7 will have a ripple effect on the value of all stocks, and the market a s a whole. Tim Cook’s letter on China calmed markets this month, his letter about fourth quarter iPhone sales in January of 2016 may have a very different effect.
Apple will unveil the iPhone 7 on September 9. The world will be watching. There’s a lot riding on the success of the next smart phone release from the firm, and most of America’s pensions are in some way connected with the success of the device. Whether or not you like Apple, the iPhone 7 is important, and it’s going to define the smart phone world, and likely the stock market, for the next twelve months.
Until then those with wireless contracts soon to finish can look over the specs of the device and decide whether it’s good enough to splash out for.
