Walt Disney Co has joined hands with Tripadvisor Inc to improve the ease of planning a trip to a Disney theme park. Trip Advisor has created dedicated pages that contain almost every aspect of planning for people headed to a Disney park in Florida or California.
The pages have a broad overview of each resort, a map, places of interest, visitor reviews as well as booking tools.
Trip Advisor has included Disney parks as part of its latest initiative “to offer dedicated pages for popular travel destinations, such as theme parks and airports, that offer many different points of interest,” the travel site said.
Walt Disney Parks on Top
Walt Disney Co parks are by far the most popular globally. They attracted over 134M visitors in 2014. Magic Kingdom, in Orlando, Florida, draws the most number of visitors among individual parks, with more than 19M having visited last year. Disney’s Tokyo Park came in second with 17.3M, followed by Disneyland in Anaheim at 16.7M.
Millions of travelers each year search Trip Advisor for vacation options around Disney parks in Florida or California, Adam Medros, senior vice president, global product, said.
Trip Advisor ran an online survey in Sept that showed October, November and December were the peak months for people visiting Disney Parks. 59% of those said they headed to the parks with their families.
The survey also asked people what resources were most useful in planning the trip. The respondents said online reviews, park maps, list of attractions and rankings of hotels were the most helpful. Trip Advisor’s Disney pages are all of those things!
Interestingly, 49% of those surveyed said they visited a Disney park for new attractions. Walt Disney Company should rejoice at this statistic. The media giant will unveil Star Wars-themed lands in its parks in 2016.
Trip Advisor, Priceline Agree Room Booking Deal
On Wednesday, Trip Advisor said it had ironed out a deal with Priceline Group Inc that would put several Priceline brands on Trip Advisor’s instant booking platform.
Trip Advisor’s Priceline deal could leave rivals sweating. The $12 billion travel review firm already has plenty of visitors to its sites. But it’s over reliance on ads has made it a laggard among peers. The latest agreement with the hotel booking major will give it an added revenue stream. And with that a chance to becoming a one-stop tourist point.
Shares of Walt Disney Co are currently trading around the $106.5-mark. Tripadvisor Inc ’s shares are down 2% at $81.86.
Priceline Group Inc ‘s stock is trading at $1310.
