Tesla shares more Model 3 info

As we edge closer to the affordable electric car’s reveal date, the company has decided to diminish our anxiety by offering a bit more information. Today, Tesla Motors posted more information on its website regarding the vehicle’s unveiling.

The Model 3 is set to be showcased on the 31st of March. Reservations will open on the same day too. However, Tesla Motors sells it luxury EVs in many countries around the world. Many people have been wondering whether their time zones would put them at a disadvantage compared to other regions. The company has assured potential buyers that it has taken measures to ensure reservation fairness across the world.

“In order to be as fair as possible, there will be a different queue for each region,” Tesla wrote today.” However, those interested in the Model 3 should know that current Tesla owners get first pick at getting one. Yes, those who already own either the Model S sedan or Model X SUV immediately get preference over other buyers.

Tesla says that the gesture is offered as a display of appreciation for its customers. “…the fastest way to get a Model 3 is to own a Model S or Model X,” Tesla gloated.

Tesla Model 3 deliveries

The blog post also offered us insight into when we can actually expect Model 3 deliveries to begin. It appears that the company plans to be on time. Tesla had initially hoped to have their affordable car released in late 2017. The company reported today that it hopes to have the vehicle out as soon as it goes into production.

“Model 3 production is scheduled to begin in late 2017,” Tesla wrote. “When production begins, we will begin deliveries in North America starting on the West Coast, moving east.” The EV giant then plans to move onto Europe, Asia and other right-hand markets as development picks up. The company does expect buyers to be patient as ensuring the best service delivery means commissioning sales specifically according to regions.

“We recognize that everyone wants to get their Model 3 as quickly as possible. Our overarching goal is to maximize total customers happiness within the bounds of what is physically possible.”
