Recent tests by Microsoft Corporation show that Microsoft Edge is a more energy efficient browser compared to Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. The tests confirmed previous reports that Google’s Chrome isn’t good for a laptop’s battery. Google knows this well, and the company had promised to improve the performance of its browser, which drains your battery.

The company has created two tests to measure power consumption by Edge, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera. The first is a test in a lab-controlled environment measuring typical browsing behavior on popular sites, while the second experiment times how long streaming HD video lasts, The Verge reported.

“Edge wins out in every case, which translates to longer battery life for you,” Microsoft said in a statement.

Microsoft Edge

Microsoft’s controlled lab tests show that its Edge browser use less battery power than Chrome, Firefox, and Opera during typical browsing activities: opening sites, scrolling through articles, and watching videos, opening new tabs for each task.

Microsoft Corporation said that its Edge is a more energy efficient on Windows 10, with up to 36%-53% more battery life to get what you need done.

The company also compared what happens when watching streaming videos on Surface Books running the latest versions of Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. It streamed the same HD video wirelessly on each device and set up a video camera to record the laptops until each one died. Results show that Edge delivers 17%-70% more battery life than the competition. Edge lasted three hours longer than Google Chrome.

The Verge reported that Microsoft’s new browser still lacks some features available in Chrome and Firefox. Browser extensions aren’t available in Edge just yet, but they will launch alongside the Anniversary Update to Windows 10 this summer. Additionally, the company is promising even more power-saving enhancements with the Anniversary Update to Edge.

The company claimed that Project Scorpio is the most powerful console ever built. The gaming console will arrive coming in 2017, with 6 teraflops of GPU delivering a premier console gaming experience including true 4K gaming and high-fidelity virtual reality. Microsoft debuted two new consoles at E3. Well, one was more of a mild redesign while the other truly gave fans what they wanted. The Xbox One got a thinner and sleeker variant — the Xbox One S. The other was an all-new innovation and the true next generation in its console range. With a name sure to draw in the gamers, Microsoft called it Project Scorpio Microsoft plans to launch the sleek and slim Xbox One S in August.
