Does Apple Inc. want iPhone 7 users to submerge their phones in water? Probably not, but the upcoming smartphone is said to come with some enhanced waterproofing. The very same rumor has attached itself to the next Apple Watch. This does suggest that the American tech producer is working towards more durable gadgets that can be used in a few new situations. As it is every year, only the approaching Fall reveals will prove how far from the truth we all were.
The iPhone 7 Approaches
The iPhone 7 range from Apple Inc. already has people eager to learn more about it. For the company’s fans, Fall marks the unveiling season for Apple’s next generation of gadgets. The upcoming edition of the world’s most successful product– the iPhone — is expected to launch this September.
The public is a bit over two months away from hearing anything official about the device itself. The only aspect if the iPhone 7 that is not held back from fans is the workings of its software. Apple Inc.’s WWDC gave developers a show of the new, forward-thinking and learning traits of iOS 10. Besides that, the physical qualities of the iPhone 7 have had no comment.
Eager to offer insight though, the internet has turned up some pretty interesting rumors to console the spreading anxiety that is now sweeping over Apple consumers.
Apple Stock hasn’t reacted to Fall hype
This year’s excitement has not translated into the iPhone maker’s stock price yet. The mere prospect of last year’s iPhone 6S devices had AAPL shares standing at $125 around this time. This was among a number of other factors though. They put shares over $30 more than Apple Inc.’s position this week. The build-up to the tech firm’s first-ever Apple Watch was a huge stock hype motivator as well.
So what do we know, or think we know, about Apple’s next flagship handset? Buyers expect it to have better sound quality. It might have a darker side too. I’m talking dark as space. We might have to say goodbye to the 16GB iPhone. And maybe, just maybe, Apple will give us three variants of the iPhone. All of this is motivated by alleged leaks and comments from “sources close to matter”.
The most prominent iPhone 7 rumor insists that the device will no longer have the standard 3.5mm audio jack at the top of it. The bulk of reports stand by this as the truth. The top audio port is thought to be done away with for two reasons. Without it, Apple can shave a few millimeters off the device. This would make the iPhone 7 the slimmest iPhone yet.
It would make the gadget more resistant to water as well. This is perhaps the most helpful part of the jack’s removal. Although still a high-end product, the premium and precious iPhone device isn’t exactly known for its durability. With great cameras as well, the iPhone is starting to gain more outdoor usage. It stands as an ideal filming gadget so making it more resistant to the elements would be a definite upside for snappers and vloggers.
Audio plug-in is expected to be moved to the iPhone 7’s Lightning port. Better sound quality can be derived from down there too, according to analysts. Some special Bluetooth headsets could be made for the next iPhone but probably won’t come standard with the device either.
Space Black is said to be the new color that comes with the iPhone 7 range. Sources have depicted renderings of the device sporting this intensely appealing shade of black. None of the older colors will be done away with either. Space Grey, Gold, the popular Rose Gold and Silver will all be available as well
Goodbye 16GB iPhone
Among the new rumors is the dismissal of the 16GB iPhone. The entry level iPhone 7 will reportedly be a 32GB device. The shift would come after years of complaints regarding iPhone storage. Worst still, the device does not offer additional storage via microSD. What you get when you buy the device is what you have to put up with. The fact that iPhone camera quality rendered its images very large is no help at all. One minute of standard filming on the device is around 200MB of storage too.
Basically, 16GB may have been a decent amount of space a few years back. However, in the realm of 4K imagery and constant data storage, 16GB is pretty limiting. So away it goes.
3 iPhone 7s
Lastly, the most shoddy rumor insists that the iPhone could come in three variants this year. The iPhone 7 Pro could make a debut in September. The sources that report on this claim that Apple wants to put the iPhone in line with its other handset, the iPad. The iPad also got a recent top range addition — the iPad Pro. It came along some months back as it the largest and most premium iPad available today.
Could Apple be thinking of doing the same to iPhone? Granted, this sounds very unlikely but Apple is known for consistent product ranges. The iPhone 7 Pro would be larger than the 7 Plus and cost $150 dollars more, sources say. It arrival will make the iPhone 7 come in entry level (iPhone 7), mid-range (iPhone 7 Plus), as well as top-end variations (iPhone 7 Pro).
However, all this is only speculation until the company makes an official unveiling of its products. Either way, leaving fans to sift the likely truth from the rumors is part of the anxiety-building game Apple Inc. plays yearly when it comes to every device launch.
The iPhone 7 range is expected to launch in September.
