Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is working on an iPad with a larger display, capable of dual-app viewing, to help revive the product line. Reports suggest a 12 inch split screen version of the iPad might be in the pipeline as the company moves to strengthen its foothold in the fast growing enterprise space.
Dual-app Viewing Mode
An updated iPad is what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) needs at the moment if the product is expected to command strong sales with the ongoing move to mobile. The new iPad is sure to offer cool new features as the company looks forward to a successful refresh cycle, similar to the one being experienced with iPhone 6.
The new iPad will reportedly allow users to operate two different apps side by side while also allowing multiple login accounts. The side by side feature is designed to allow users to share an iPad while each user uses a separate app. The side by side app support was intended to be unveiled last year with iOS 8, but was later deemed unpolished derailing its unveiling as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shifted its attention to iPhone 6
Struggling Apple iPad Sales
It remains to be seen if the 12 inch split screen iPad will revive sales that came in at 12.6 million last quarter, short of analyst estimates of 15 million units. IPad sales have mostly been hit hard by the ongoing strong demand for iPhone 6 that offers a larger screen at 4.7 inches, which many people are opting to use as a tablet.
Consumers should be able to capitalize on the new iPad’s additional screen space as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is believed to be working on an updated version of Siri and Notification Center. The new iPad is also expected to come with new USB support and an additional keyboard support perfect for use in business.
According to Mashable, the new iPad should hit the market sometime next year. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to unveil the device’s software features next month at the WWDC conference.
