The VR community is going gaga over the Facebook’s new Oculus Quest and Rift S which starts shipping today! The products are equipped with an all-in-one fully immersive 6DOF VR, which brings a revolutionary new take on standard virtual reality.
Announcing the shipment, Oculus talked about the bringing freedom to its users through untethered movement. The company said that it is continuing to honor its commitment to PC-powered VR gaming. Stormland, Defector, and Asgard’s Wrath will be the new games that will find enhanced gameplay thanks to the Oculus devices.
Claiming that it was “blown away” by the community response after the pre-orders for Quest and Rift S began at F8, the company said that its hardware portfolio would help developers usher into a new era of VR gaming.
What do the new devices offer?
Rift S is designed to take gaming to the next level. It supports a virtual reality in high-end games and can support a higher-resolution display. It provides room-scale tracking and comes with fully immersive Touch controller technology. Rift S is relatively easier to set up and is accessible for PC games as well, giving users the highest-quality immersive VR experience immediately on setup.
What sets Rift S apart is the addition of new features like improves Fresnel lenses. It comes with a fast-switch LCD display as well, which reduces glare and provides superior quality optics. It can also help in reducing the screen door effect dramatically that provides a more seamless, immersive experience to the users. It comes with a 2560×1440 total resolution (1280×1440 for each eye) delivering about 42% more pixels than its predecessor and providing a more high-end experience.
The new halo headband is designed in collaboration with Lenovo, and Oculus has paid great attention to make it more comfortable for the users. It is more secure and easier to put on and take off.
